Published in September 2022 as Wie drei heldenhafte Ärzte die Schweiz vom Kropf erlösten (firewall), my long piece about iodised salt was among the most-read articles in the country on the weekend of its publication.

Works That Work (2013-2017) was a groundbreaking design magazine that ran for ten issues. From 2014, I was a member of its editorial board.

My 2014 article on the siege of Sarajevo explored how ingenuity and improvisation drove a new kind of economy inside the city, and a gave people the means – practical and psychological – to survive.

In 2016, I travelled to Bhutan for the magazine and wrote five long pieces about the country, on subjects ranging from hydropower, to national identity, to Bhutan’s first cinema, which travelled on the back of its first filmmaker to remote mountain villages.
